We bid farewell to 2021 and welcome 2022 with high hopes!

Bangladesh

It is one of the most densely populated and at the same time the poorest countries in the world. There are more than one thousand inhabitants here per one square kilometer. The country’s population is almost 150 million. In the neighboring Myanmar, since mid-2017, thousands of the Rohingya people have lost their lives, their villages have been burned down, and the survivors approached the border with Bangladesh. Within several months, more than 750 refugees settled in the border area.

Overview:
  • The UN has been calling persecution of the Rohingya an ethnic cleansing
  • The Rohingya are the most persecuted ethnic group today
  • the world’s largest refugee camp, home to approximately 920,000 Rohingya, is located near the city of Cox’s Bazar
  • 55% of the camp residents are children
We provide an enriched diet and essential household products for

the most vulnerable refugees.

01.01.2022

We bid farewell to 2021 and welcome 2022 with high hopes. It has not been an easy year. Many of our loved ones are no  longer with us, and uncertainty has crept into our dreams and plans for the future. It has not been a peaceful year for those in our care either.

In March a gigantic fire in the world’s largest refugee camp in Bangladesh left nearly 60,000 people homeless. The flames completely consumed the day care centre we had built, where we provided help, education and food to over 100 children every day. In May, a volcano erupted in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The eruption of Mount Nyiragongo forced the inhabitants of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province, with a population of more than half a million, to flee their homes. The hospital in Ntamugenga, which was cut off from the world, received a flood of casualties and patients from evacuated hospitals. Increasingly frequent and aggressive terrorist attacks in the north of Burkina Faso, together with crop failure caused by droughts, are leading to the fastest growing humanitarian crisis in the world. After Syria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso has the fastest growing number of refugees. Desperate people are migrating. They are abandoning their fields and, as a result, nearly 15% of the population of Burkina Faso no longer have anything to eat.

However, this year would have ended much more tragically for thousands of people around the world, and hundreds of young children would not have lived to see the end of it were it not for you.

Your help, any help, even the smallest, allows us to save people on 9 different fronts. For years, we have been proving to you the power of a regular donation of PLN 5. It is the power of a drop of water that if it is constant, will bore through solid rock. We do not ask you for big sacrifices, but for small ones equivalent to loose change in your pockets. It is this that enabled us to provide help worth 3 086 604,10 PLN this year! Here you will find a detailed summary of the year!

Looking into the eyes of the people we are providing with help, we know how much they need you. Every day we try to prove this to you by narrowing the distance between you and them as much as possible. We know them by name and you get to know them here too. Without you, they could not be who they are. As we start another year, we wish ourselves and them that you will stay here with us. Believe in the power of your loose change and in the fact that today help is no longer just a gesture of kindness, but the most noble response to another person’s misfortune.

There are many challenges ahead of us. A rampantly fluctuating dollar exchange rate, unfavourable social media algorithms focused on commercialism rather than selflessness, rising prices of services and materials etc. However, we strongly believe that we will not be alone in overcoming these challenges. And that you will help us! Do not stop! Remember that good always returns your way. We wish you that in 2022 you will see this for yourselves!

If you are wondering what you can do today, how you can help, we have an incentive for you! Give us a high 5! Set up a standing order for 5 PLN per week (20 PLN per month)! It’s so little, and you’ll see what great things we’ll do together in 2022!
