Thank you for regularly supporting the work of the hospital in Ntamugenga

Democratic Republic of Congo

The second largest country of Africa, full of paradoxes. On one hand, it is rich in natural resources (including cobalt, copper, coltan, crude oil, diamonds, gold); on the other hand, its inhabitants are among the poorest in the world. For decades, the DRC has been suffering from prolonged conflicts that have led to one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the world.

Overview:
  • 77% of the population live in extreme poverty for less than $1.90 a day
  • 16% of the country’s population, i.e. over 13 million people, require immediate humanitarian assistance
  • 13,6 million people are deprived of access to safe water sources and proper sanitary and hygienic facilities
  • numerous outbreaks of deadly diseases, including measles, malaria, cholera and Ebola
  • about 10% of all malaria deaths in sub-Saharan Africa occurred here
Our hospital carries over

27 000

medical procedures per year
We treat about

7000

malaria patients every year
Our midwives delivered about

953

babies in 2023

Sometimes it is the case that all the stars are aligned and it just takes someone to recognise an opportunity the way Dr Patience recognised little Marie Louise.

In Toulouse, France, we regularly consult the most difficult cases, including cardiac cases. It doesn’t matter that a child comes from the depths of the Congolese jungle – she deserves to be cared for just as much as a child in any part of the world.

Marie Louise’s heart clearly couldn’t contain all her bravery, and therefore required surgery. But what does a team ready to operate, made up of the best specialists, mean when it is on the other side of the world?

With your support we can cross mountains and oceans. It is thanks to you that we were able to prepare the girl for the trip. First the on-site examinations, online consultations, then shorter hospitalisations and finally the issuing of documents, including a passport, and border crossing fees. All of this cost a minimum of US$1 000. Without these funds, we would only have a dream. With you, we are talking about a real chance for a brand new life for another child.

Thank you for regularly supporting the work of the hospital in Ntamugenga. You allow us to respond to the needs of the children with lightning speed. Every penny you donate to us in huge confidence is a penny that doesn’t have to wait for the next fundraiser. It gives us the days we spend holding the little ones’ hands after surgery, instead of spending every waking day worrying while the condition of our patients worsens.

If you would like to support the work of the doctors at our hospital, a place that carries out more than 27,000 medical procedures every year, please – donate at least the spare change from your recent shopping trip to them, or any amount that won’t ruin your budget and will save the life of another child tomorrow who sometimes just needs to be recognised.
