Dust, sand, rocks, and potholes. I do not envy our car. In the coming days, we have thousands of kilometers to cover. Once there is some asphalt, and then there isn’t any. The shock absorbers are doing their best to keep us more on the ground than in the air. Our car endures potholes and bigger bumps in silence. We’re worried that it’s only a matter of time, so we say loudly that if it gets us there, it will be treated to a check-up, washing, and a whole car spa.
Mauritania greets us with harsh sun that wounds any uncovered piece of skin and with sand that hits your face without asking for permission.
We set off before dawn and will probably arrive before dusk. Keep your fingers crossed for the car and our trio because each of us already deserves some rest. More tomorrow. Today, some postcards from the road.
