In Gourcy, the desert is pushing out fertile land—but together with the local community, we are reversing this trend, one starter pack at a time. From the first 10 families, we’ve grown into a network of over 45 farms, passing on essential resources like a relay baton. A full Starter Pack, which enables a family to begin planting crops and raising animals, costs €280. That’s why we divide it into 35 equal shares of €8 each. When 35 people donate one share each, a new family gets the chance to start their own farm.
What does one Starter Pack include?
- 4 breeding pigs
- 5 kg of seeds for planting
- A complete set of farming tools
- Fertilizer for crops
- Mentoring from an experienced farmer
How does your share work?
- 35 shares × €8 = 1 Starter Pack – a new family begins farming and planting.
- After the first year – 90% of the profit stays with the farmers; 10% goes back into a microloan fund that helps finance more starter packs.
- Doubling the good – the family passes on four piglets, seeds, and farming knowledge to another family.
Your €8 turns into long-term income for local families and creates harvests in a place where today there is mostly sand.
