Rwanda

Rwanda is one of the smallest countries on the African continent, and the most densely populated one. There are around 463 inhabitants per 1km2 here! Due to its natural landscape, Rwanda is sometimes referred to as a land of a thousand hills, and due to its history, also a land of a thousand problems.

Overview:
  • around 12 million inhabitants
  • in 1994, it was a place of genocide – in 100 days, about 1 million people of the Tutsi tribe were murdered, 2 million escaped from the country
  • agricultural country – farming generates about 63% of income from export (including coffee, tea, bananas)
In 2023, we organized long-term palliative care for

Before coming to Kabuga, she went through a lot. She didn’t have the conditions to be sick, but the illness didn’t take that into account. Abandoned, lonely, and neglected, she experienced the cruelty of poverty and lack of independence. When she arrived in Kabuga, it was as if her life began again.

The patients come to us exhausted. Often neglected, powerless. It’s clear they are suffering, their eyes show a deep, existential sadness. It only takes a moment for them to grow into this place, to call it home. They forget their pain and loneliness. That’s how it was with Virginie.

There is no hospice without beds. In Kabuga, Rwanda, we restore dignity, bring relief from suffering, and turn the greatest human tragedies into joy from every new morning. We help the sick live until the very end, although elsewhere they wouldn’t be able to cope with their suffering. The comfort of our patients is our highest priority. That’s why the hospice needs you today!

Your regular support allows us to maintain this extraordinary place, but the time has come for us to invest in the purchase of specialized beds. The ones we have have been serving patients since the hospice was opened. They really need to be replaced.

The cost of 20 specialized rehabilitation beds, along with anti-bedsore mattresses, is about €30,000. Not a small amount, but considering how crucial this equipment is for restoring the dignity of palliative patients, we cannot save on this. SynergyOil Poland understood this very well, and without a moment’s hesitation, the company donated over €10,000, 1/3 of the needed amount. Following SynergyOil, the Hospice Foundation joined the fundraiser, donating €9,300. To fund the remaining 1/3, we need you!

Do you want to be part of the group that will provide relief and help manage pain for patients for many years to come?

10 euro. That’s what we’re asking you for today. We will ask the same of 2,000 other people. This could really be the best-spent 10 euro today.

Join us in getting those beds!

Urgent help for flood victims

The most vulnerable are the elderly and disabled, living in remote rural areas and small towns, where reaching them is difficult. You’ll be informed about every penny spent to help them. 100% of the funds raised will go directly towards targeted, precise aid tailored to the needs of those affected.
