You can see war and hunger in Amina’s eyes. No child anywhere in the world should have either of those reflected in their gaze. But on the outside, she’s just a small girl whose eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair have taken on the color of rust. Nature brands its children touched by hunger with the color of fire.
After many months of nutritional therapy, for the first time the doctors can say: her weight is stable. But you can see something even more important—there’s a child living in her eyes again.
Four euro.
That’s the cost of a therapeutic meal for a child dying of hunger. For that amount, Sister Agnieszka can send a driver to the local market for fresh vegetables, fish, milk, and fruit juice. In the hospital kitchen, someone will light the stove and prepare a nourishing meal, also packing some food to take home. The doctor will give medicine for malaria or tuberculosis—diseases that wait to prey on the weakened bodies.
In Congo, misfortunes never come alone. Hunger opens the door to infections, and those finish what hunger could not.
Amina still needs help, so we warmly encourage you—join her fight by gifting a meal! Every day of her life is a gift from those who believe that one child can change the world, and the world can save one child.
